Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
If you continually think about the problems in your life, this pattern of thinking will have a negative impact on the peace and happiness in your life. Conversely, if you think about the solutions to your problems, this pattern of thinking will have a positive impact on the peace and happiness in your life. The cause of worry is dwelling on problems. The cause of anxiety is worrying. Anxiety begins in your mind due to negative thoughts. Anxiety is a negative force that will attract problems into your life. Allowing negative thoughts to remain in your mind causes you to take a journey to the place you fear to go. Anxiety is the opposite of God’s peace, and it will prevent you from experiencing personal peace.
Here are the 4 steps to personal peace:
Step 1: Don’t worry about anything.
Step 2: Pray about everything.
Step 3: Tell God what you need.
Step 4: Thank Him for all He has done.
God’s Word encourages you to exchange anxiety for prayer and thanksgiving. The result of exchanging anxiety for prayer and thanksgiving is God’s peace. God’s peace is not merely a psychological state of positive thinking, it’s an inner tranquility based on peace with God through Jesus Christ (see Romans 5:1). As you live according to who you are in Christ, you will experience peace with God. Peace with God is perfect peace!
