John 14:12 (NKJV)
“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”
Many times when we think of doing the works of Jesus, we think of performing miracles like He did. Certainly Jesus’ miracles proved He was the Son of God, but that was not His sole motive for performing them. Before Jesus did any miracle, He first expressed the divine nature!
- Jesus expressed the divine nature of compassion and healed the sick (Matt. 14:14).
- Jesus expressed the divine nature of blessing and fed over 5000 people (Luke 9:16).
- Jesus expressed the divine nature of peace and calmed the storm (Mark 4:39).
- Jesus expressed the divine nature of gratitude and raised the dead (John 11:41-44).
- Jesus expressed the divine nature of joy and cast out demons (Luke 10:17).
- Jesus expressed the divine nature of love and gave the human race eternal life (John 3:16).
Everything Jesus did occurred as a result of Him expressing the divine nature. Jesus is our example of how a human being could establish the Kingdom of God on the earth and influence it with the culture of heaven. This is done primarily by expressing the divine nature.
The idea of partnership is in view here. We have our part and God has His part. We express the divine nature and God performs the miracles. If you express the divine nature the same way Jesus did, God will perform miracles through you the same way He did through Jesus!
