2 Corinthians 4:13 (NKJV)
And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak.
A spirit of faith believes and speaks. Question: How do we activate a spirit of faith? Answer: By believing and speaking. A spirit of faith boldly declares what it believes and then takes action on what it confesses.
The opposite of fear is faith. 2 Timothy 1:7 uses the phrase “spirit of fear.” Therefore, the opposite of a spirit of fear would be a spirit of faith. If God has not given you a spirit of fear, then by default, God has given you a spirit of faith. The last part of 2 Timothy 1:7 reads: “…but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” You not only have a spirit of faith, but you have a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind!
Faith has a power component, a love component, and a sound mind component. Faith receives what God has already given; therefore, faith receives power, love, and a sound mind. Another way to say it would be: Faith is activated by power, love, and a sound mind. Not only does love activate faith, but power and a sound mind also activate faith. Your faith is activated by power, love, and a sound mind!
Power activates faith; love activates faith, and a sound mind activates faith. Power relates to the Holy Spirit; love relates to God the Father, and a sound mind relates to Jesus because you have the mind of Christ. The entire Trinity is involved here; that is how important the principle of faith working through love is in the life of a new creation person. A spirit of faith releases power, love, and a sound mind; and power, love, and a sound mind activate your faith. Instead of always talking about your fearfulness, lack of confidence, and challenging circumstances, start confessing the power of the Holy Spirit, the love of God your Father, and the mind of Christ in your life.
