1 Corinthians 6:11 (NKJV)
But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
The last phrase, “in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God,” refers to being born again and filled with the Holy Spirit. Each individual (that includes you and me) must get to the place where they are confident about what it means to be born again and filled with the Holy Spirit. Once you are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit, you have everything you need to experience resurrection power because the same power that raised Jesus from the dead now resides within you. Here is how being born again and filled with the Holy Spirit translate into experiencing resurrection power: Experiencing resurrection power happens as you live out of your re-created spirit by expressing the divine nature with the help, and by the power, of the Holy Spirit.
There are three things (in 1 Corinthians 6:11) that happened to you as a result of being born again and filled with the Holy Spirit. 1. You were washed. 2. You were sanctified. 3. You were justified. Believing these three truths in your heart is what will activate resurrection power in your life. Important point now: You know you believe something in your heart when it changes the way you see yourself and how you feel about yourself.
You were washed refers to the forgiveness of sins. Do you really believe in your heart that all your past, present, and future sins are forgiven (washed)? You were sanctified refers to being set apart for God’s purpose. Do you really believe in your heart that God has a purpose for your life (sanctified)? You were justified refers to being declared righteous. Do you really believe in your heart that you are right with God apart from your works (justified)?
You must see yourself, and feel about yourself, differently, now that you have been washed, sanctified, and justified. You must believe these truths in your heart to the point of experiencing them in your life. Once you believe these three truths in your heart, you will experience resurrection power in your life on a regular basis.
God relates to you as washed, sanctified, and justified, but if you don’t relate to Him the same way, your heart is challenged to believe the truth of God’s Word. This is important because it is only when you believe God’s Word in your heart that it will produce results in your life. One of the main reasons we don’t enjoy the promises of God and experience all the benefits of our salvation is because God relates to us based on the finished work of Christ, but we relate to God based on our previous life experiences and the current conditions that exist in our lives. In other words, the physical realm (with all its sense-knowledge opposition to who you are in Christ) is just too overwhelming. Here’s the solution to sense-knowledge opposition: Experiencing resurrection power happens as you relate to God based on the finished work of Christ – you have already been washed, sanctified, and justified.
Question: How do you activate the resurrection power of Jesus in your life? Answer: Believe in your heart that you have been washed, sanctified, and justified. Believing those three truths in your heart not only activates resurrection power in your life, but it is also the solution to your health problems, your money problems, and your relationship problems.
