You can get inspired this New Year by embracing the wisdom of Jesus: Rest and receive from God.
Mark 6:31 (NLT)
Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.”
Spending quiet time with God every day cannot be overemphasized. Jesus knew this, and as busy as He was, He always found the time to rest and spend time alone with His Father God. In the fast paced world we live in, it is sometimes too easy to just go, go, go all the time. However, rest is a time of receiving from God. When we take the time to rest, we are putting ourselves in a position to receive from God.
Who wants you to discover your purpose in life more than anyone else? Who knows the best plan for your life? Who created you to fulfill your unique destiny? Who wants to fellowship with you so you can realize your God-given dream? When are you going to take the time to receive the answers to these questions if you do not take the time to rest and listen to God as He yearns to speak to you?
As you head into 2013, take some time to be quiet and crystallize your thinking according to God’s plan for your life, and specifically, what you will focus on and pursue in this coming year. Take some time to write your dreams and goals, meditate on them, and develop a plan of action that God will reveal to you.
Taking time to rest will enable you to accomplish far more in less time. This is one of the reasons Jesus was able to accomplish so much in His three and a half years of ministry. Remember, success isn’t the end of the journey, but the journey itself. Take the time to rest and receive from God this year!
