Let everything you do be done in love (true love to God and man as inspired by God’s love for us).
Our Success Scripture this week is telling us that everything we do should be based on walking in love toward God and people. However, the inspiration for walking in love should come from God’s love for us. We walk in love effectively by receiving God’s love for us personally.
Every believer is called to walk in love, but walking in love must be lived out as a response to what God has already done for us; hence the phrase, “as inspired by God’s love for us.” The intimation here is that unless we receive God’s love personally, we will never be able to love God and others fully. Receiving God’s love personally enables us to love God and it empowers us to love others.
The question becomes: How do you receive God’s love personally? Receiving God’s love personally includes receiving Jesus, living according to who you are in Christ, and relying on the power of the Holy Spirit.
The more we talk about Jesus and what He’s done, the more we focus on who we are in Christ, and the more we rely on the power of the Holy Spirit, the more the grace of God is going to operate in our lives enabling us to walk in love proactively and unconditionally. Every believer is called to live sacrificially by walking in love, but the challenge is that we can’t do it in our own power; we must depend on God’s grace. God’s grace enables us to walk in love automatically.
