There are two aspects to righteousness – internal and external.  Internal righteousness equates to receiving a new righteous nature when you are born again.  External righteousness equates to living a godly life.I am righteousness of god

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

When you become a new creation person, you become the righteousness of God in Christ.  This is now your new identity.  Here’s some good news: God exchanged your sin for His righteousness!  This is important because this is the way God is relating to you today – according to your new identity as the righteousness of God in Christ.  Not only did the sacrifice of Jesus provide forgiveness of sin, but it also provided the righteousness of God.  God is relating to you today according to your new identity as the righteousness of God in Christ.

The word “might” (in 2 Corinthians 5:21) indicates that there’s an opportunity to accept or reject God’s free gift of righteousness – to embrace your new identity in Christ or to reject it.  This is the solution to all your problems; namely, acting like the righteous new creation person you really are!

The truth of two aspects to righteousness (internal and external) is so important because when you become the righteousness of God in Christ, you now have the power to live a godly life.  There is a power in your new righteous nature that causes you to live right.  The power of your new righteous nature is activated by the Holy Spirit, which causes you to live a godly life.

When you are born again you become a new creation person filled with the divine nature.  This divine nature includes a new righteous nature of eternal life.  Expressing this new righteous nature of eternal life is the secret to abundant living.

These concepts about righteousness are elaborated on further in our new book, The Secret to Abundant LivingThis book contains the solution to the world’s problems!  Click here to order
