The solution for any nation is also what will expedite the second coming of Jesus – preaching the Gospel.
Matthew 24:14 (NKJV)
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”
Jesus is intimating that what will expedite His second coming is the same thing that will prosper a nation – preaching the gospel of righteousness, peace, and joy, with the love of God as a foundation. The Kingdom of God is the opposite of the kingdom of the world. The kingdom of the world is based on greed, selfishness, and a lust for power. The Kingdom of God is based on righteousness, peace, and joy (See Rom. 14:17).
The Gospel is good news because the true gospel changes the hearts of people from hate to love. This is the solution for the United States and every other nation in the world. Unfortunately, many do not accept the Gospel because they may have been offended by a person or institution that presented itself under the guise of the Gospel, perhaps even with a sense of hate rather than love.
Many during an election season think morality can be legislated. However, the truth is that our present form of government is incapable of producing morality through legislation. It may help to restrain immorality, but only if a moral foundation in the hearts of the men and women who govern is established. This is done by preaching the Gospel.
John Adams, the second president of the United States, wrote in 1789, “Our Constitution was designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other…Free government rests upon public and private morality.”
The power to change resides in the hearts of people, not in laws designed to control the people. People don’t live right because they are told to live right. People live right because they embrace the love of a God who created them, who knows the best way for people and society to function. The only way to produce long term behavioral transformation in people is to turn their hearts toward God and His love.
This is the reason the hearts of the people are so important – only when the hearts of people are changed will a nation ultimately change. Specifically, only when the hearts of people are influenced with the divine nature of agape love will nations move from war to peace. Question: The election is over, now what? Answer: Keep preaching the Gospel – the good news about Jesus Christ!
