Did you know that God has not given you a spirit of fear? (1 Timothy 1:7) The opposite of fear is faith. Therefore, you could say that God has given you a spirit of faith. If God hasn’t given you a spirit of fear, then by default, God has given you a spirit of faith. You have a spirit of faith! The last part of 2 Timothy 1:7 reads: “…but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” You have a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind!
According to 2 Timothy 1:7, faith has a power component, a love component, and a sound mind component. Faith receives what God has already given; therefore, faith receives power, love, and a sound mind. Another way to say it would be: Faith is activated by power, love, and a sound mind. Not only does love activate faith, but according to 2 Timothy 1:7, power and a sound mind also activate faith. Your faith is activated by power, love, and a sound mind!
Power activates faith, and love activates faith, and a sound mind activates faith. Power relates to the Holy Spirit; love relates to God the Father, and a sound mind relates to Jesus because you have the mind of Christ. The entire Trinity is involved here; that’s how important the principle of faith activated through love is in the life of a new creation person.
